OPEN THE DOOR TO A CAREER IN LAW ENFORCEMENT


The West Virginia State Police will begin testing for Trooper recruits in February at the following locations:


9:00 a.m. February 26, 2008 State Police Academy, Institute, WV

9:00 a.m. February 27, 2008 State Police Academy, Institute, WV

12:00 noon February 28, 2008 Quality Inn, Morgantown, WV

9:00 a.m. March 1, 2008 State Police Academy, Institute, WV


Applicants should report to the test site of their choice and bring a completed Application for West Virginia State Trooper, valid photo ID, running shoes, and appropriate exercise attire. Applicants will be required to participate and pass a physical ability examination before taking a written test.

Only those applicants successfully passing the physical ability examination will be administered a written examination consisting of a fourteen-minute reading test. This test will be held immediately following the physical ability examination. There is no study guide available for the written test.

The State Police Academy is located about 10 minutes west of Charleston, WV, near Institute, along Interstate 64. Take the Academy/Route 25 exit, proceed east on Route 25, approximately ¾ of a mile turn left on Academy Drive, then turn right at the top of the hill.

The Quality Inn is located at 1400 Saratoga Avenue, Morgantown, WV, 1.5 miles from the interstate. If traveling I-79 North or I-79 South, take Exit 155, follow signs to Star City/Morgantown, and follow Route 19 south. The hotel is on the right, just before the Morgantown State Police Detachment.

No enlistments will be made at this time and applicants may make plans to return to their homes immediately following examinations.

SALARY: $2675.50 per month; $3263.17 per month upon Academy graduation. Competitive benefits package.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 21 years of age prior to targeted enlistment date of August 4, 2008, high school diploma or GED. Applicants may test at age 20 with the understanding that they may not be eligible provided the class begins as scheduled.
