Position: WEAPONS TERMINAL INSTRUCTOR/AUDITOR
Location: Troop 0, Communications
Pay Grade: 9 (22,584 – 41,784)
Description: Under general supervision, performs at the full-performance level
by training, functionally testing and affirming the proficiency of the terminal
equipment operators. Provides basic training to all sworn law enforcement
personnel to ensure effective use of the West Virginia Automated Police Network
System (WEAPONS). Provides training on system use. Provides peer level training
on system use, regulations, policy, audits, sanctions, and related civil
liability for criminal justice administrators. Annually reviews all curricula for
relevancy and effectiveness. Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the
equivalent. Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid
experience as a certified WEAPON terminal operator. Special Requirement: Must
maintain a current certification as a WEAPON terminal operator.
Position: OFFICE ASSISTANT III

Description: Under general supervision, performs advanced level, responsible and
complex clerical tasks of a complicated nature involving interpretation and
application of policies and practices. Interprets office procedures, rules and
regulations. May function as a lead worker for clerical positions. Performs
related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the
equivalent. Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid

Description: Performs at a full-performance level, relieves supervisor of clerical
and minor administrative duties, exercising discretion and independent judgment.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the
equivalent. Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid
experience performing clerical duties at the Office Assistant 2 level, including
typing, which must have included screening and routing telephone calls and
correspondence, and composing routine correspondence. Substitution: College hours

and/or inquiries received over communication equipment. Operates all applicable
radio equipment/computer terminal/telephone equipment, dispatches/receives
radio/computer data/telephone communications. Ability to type accurately at a
rate of 25 w.p.m. Shift work required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the
equivalent. Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid

Position: ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN I

Description: Under direct supervision, performs beginning level electronic and
telecommunication work or assists a higher level electronics technician with the
installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic and electrical equipment.
Duties include performing electronic and telecommunications work necessary for
the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic radio equipment,
inspecting two-way base and mobile radio stations and communication towers using
diagnostic devices, installing and erecting new or repaired two-way base and
mobile radio stations, determining priorities of repairs and emergencies when
notified, testing and repairing malfunctioning mobile radios and transceivers,
maintaining inventory, records, etc. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high
school or the equivalent. Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent
part-time paid employment in electronics repair or land mobile radio/microwave
equipment repair. Substitution: Successful completion of an approved vocational
school program in electronics of at least 1080 clock hours or an Associate Degree
in Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology from an accredited college
or university may be substituted for the required experience. Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid driver’s license. A general FCC license may be required.
Position: CARPENTER

Description: Under general supervision, constructs, maintains, alters and
repairs buildings or fabricates and repairs a variety of wooden articles and
equipment. Follows sketches, specifications, or oral instructions as well as
established trade practices in performing work assignments. Performs related
work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high
school or equivalent. Substitution: Additional experience as stated below may
be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis. Experience:
Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience or
self-employment in the area of assignment. Substitution: Completion of related
training from a vocational school or an approved apprenticeship program may
substitute through an established formula on a year-for-year basis. Special
Requirement: The employee must possess physical strength sufficient to perform
strenuous tasks for considerable periods of time and to perform carpenter work
from ladders or scaffolding.

Minimum Qualifications: Training: No formal education required. Experience: Two
years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in service/mechanical
work on automobiles or motor driven equipment. Substitution: Successful completion
of an approved vocational school program in automotive mechanics of at least 1080
clock hours may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Special
Requirement: A valid West Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required.
