Position: DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR I
Location: Troop O, Communications
Pay Grade: 21 (44,244 – 81,852)
Description: Under general supervision, at the full-performance level, performs
a full range of database management functions as an applications database
administrator. Creates physical database from logical design of application
system specifications. Calculates and allocates system storage structures
(tablespaces). Creates primary objects (tables, views, indexes) after an
application has been designed. Modifies the database structure, as necessary and
monitors and optimizes database performance. Enrolls users and maintains
application system security. Backs up and restores the database. May assist
Database Administrator 2 in managing database management system software,
controlling and monitoring user access, migrating program changes to production.
Performs as a resource person to applications developers. May supervise and assist
in training programmers and other staff. An irregular work schedule may be
required of this position. Performs related work as required. Distinguishing
Characteristics: Database Administrator I works primarily as an applications
database administrator, with specific database management system authority.
Analyzes application specifications and prepares the physical database structures,
creates and executes Data Definition Language (DDL) to build all primary objects
for the application. Makes recommendations to application developers in design
and implementation. May delegate specific tasks to application programmers to
assist in training and development database administrator skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Successful completion of an Associate Degree
in computer science or related field from an accredited college, university or
business school. Substitution: Two years of experience as a Database Administrator
for Universal DB2, ORACLE, INFORMIX, SQL Server, SYBASE or any other multi-user
database management system on mainframe, mini, or client/server platforms may
substitute for the required training. Experience: Two years of full-time or
equivalent part-time paid experience in database administration and management
work, with Universal DB2, ORACLE, INFORMIX, SQL Server, SYBASE or any other
multi-user database management on mainframe, mini, or client/server platforms OR
four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in programming
and analysis work using any of a variety of programming languages, including two
years of SQL experience and a variety of data storage techniques. Substitution:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science
or related field may be substituted for the required training and the two years
of experience.
Position: POLICE TELECOMMUNICATOR
Location: Troop 3, Elkins
Pay Grade: 7 (20,472 – 37,884)
Description: Receives, responds, transmits, answers, and/or verifies messages
and/or inquiries received over communication equipment. Operates all applicable
radio equipment/computer terminal/telephone equipment, dispatches/receives
radio/computer data/telephone communications. Ability to type accurately at a
rate of 25 w.p.m. Shift work required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the
equivalent. Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid
experience in public contact work. Substitution: College hours, related business
school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula
for the required experience.
Position: MECHANIC II

Description: Under general supervision performs full performance level work in
the maintenance, lubrication, repair and overhaul of light equipment, automobiles,
trucks and other motor driven equipment. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: No formal education required. Experience: Two
years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in service/mechanical
work on automobiles or motor driven equipment. Substitution: Successful completion
of an approved vocational school program in automotive mechanics of at least 1080
clock hours may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Special
Requirement: A valid West Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required.
Position: OFFICE ASSISTANT III

Description: Under general supervision, performs advanced level, responsible
and complex clerical tasks of a complicated nature involving interpretation and
application of policies and practices. Interprets office procedures, rules and
regulations. May function as a lead worker for clerical positions. Performs
related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or
the equivalent. Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time
paid experience performing routine office work. Substitution: College hours,
related business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an
established formula for the required experience.
Position: OFFICE ASSISTANT III (GRANT FUNDED POSITION)

Description: Under general supervision, performs advanced level, responsible

Description: Under general supervision, performs clerical work at the full-
performance level by preparing hourly and salaried payrolls for computer
processing and the issuance of paychecks. Has limited latitude to vary methods
and procedures, as strict state and federal guidelines apply. Work is accomplished
in a narrow time frame and accuracy is important. May prepare accompanying
personnel-related information; may act as a lead worker. Performs related work
as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the
equivalent. Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid
clerical experience, one year of which included payroll, personnel, or accounting
related duties.
Position: POLICE TELECOMMUNICATOR

Position: ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN I

Description: Duties include performing electronic and telecommunications work
necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic radio
equipment, inspecting two-way base and mobile radio stations and communication
towers using diagnostic devices, installing and erecting new or repaired two-way
base and mobile radio stations, determining priorities of repairs and emergencies
when notified, testing and repairing malfunctioning mobile radios and transceivers,
maintaining inventory, records, etc.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high
school or the equivalent. Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time
paid employment in electronics repair or land mobile radio/microwave equipment
repair. Substitution: Successful completion of an approved vocational school
program in electronics of at least 1080 clock hours or an Associate Degree in
Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology from an accredited college or
university may be substituted for the required experience.
