State Police Set to Begin Testing for 54th Cadet Class

SOUTH CHARLESTON – The West Virginia State Police is set to begin testing for the 54th Cadet Class in January 2004. All applications that are currently on file will be reviewed and all eligible applicants will be notified of the date in which they are to test. Anyone who is interested in becoming a uniformed Trooper who does not already have an application submitted still has time to obtain an application and send it in. Applicants must be 21 years of age by the date of enlistment and must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D equivalency. All applications must be postmarked by January 9, 2004, and sent directly to the Personnel office in South Charleston.

A Cadet Selection Informational Brochure, which outlines the qualifications, hiring process, salary, retirement, employee benefits, degree program and training, is available to assist in answering questions regarding the position of Trooper. Applications and the informational brochure can be obtained at any State Police detachment in the state or by contacting our Personnel Section, 725 Jefferson Road, South Charleston, WV 25309, telephone, 304-746-2117. Information can also be obtained by logging on to our website at www.wvstatepolice.com.

In order to accommodate those applicants who are unable to meet the deadline date for scheduling and for those in which middle of the week testing poses a conflict with other interests, the State Police is offering a walk-on testing date on Saturday, January 31, 2004. Applicants must report to the West Virginia State Police Academy at 7:30am and bring a completed application, valid photo ID and tennis/running shoes, shorts or sweat pants.

The West Virginia State Police is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
