
Malicious Wounding South Central Regional Jail
South Charleston, West Virginia- On January 27, 2009, Sr. Trooper A. B. Ward of the
South Charleston Detachment responded to a complaint of a malicious wounding which
occurred at the South Central Regional Jail, in Charleston, West Virginia.
Sr. Trooper Ward was advised by correctional officers that Mr. Guy Long, a 44 year old
inmate, had received injuries from a physical altercation with Mr. Joseph Chad White,
a 29 year old inmate. Mr. Long was beaten with a broomstick and received injuries which
required him to be transported to a local hospital. Sr. Trooper Ward’s investigation
revealed the involvement of an additional inmate in the crime. As a result, felony
warrants for malicious wounding were obtained through the Kanawha County Magistrate Court
for Mr. White and Mr. Kevin Lee Lewis, a 22 year old inmate.
