

Trooper Struck by Vehicle While
Conducting Traffic Stop
CABELL COUNTY – A Trooper from the
Huntington State Police detachment was stuck by a vehicle while conducting a
traffic stop. The incident occurred on
I-64 in Cabell County just east of the 29th Street interstate interchange.
A preliminary investigation
shows that Sergeant Art Arnold, detachment commander in Huntington, had just completed a
traffic stop and was returning to his vehicle when he was struck by another
vehicle that was traveling in the same direction. Sergeant Arnold was thrown across the hood of
his cruiser and landed next to the guardrail.
The passengers in the vehicle originally stopped by Sergeant Arnold,
stayed to assist until emergency personnel arrived.
Sergeant Arnold was
transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital where he is listed in
stable condition. Charges are pending
against the driver of the vehicle that struck Sergeant Arnold. No other information has been released
regarding the driver at this point.
