It is with deep regret that the West Virginia State Police announce that Trooper First Class Randall W. Bolyard, 39, assigned to the Philippi Detachment died from injuries received in a motorcycle crash on June 24, 2004. TFC Bolyard’s motorcycle struck a deer on US Route 250 one-quarter of a mile north of the US Route 250 and US Route 50 intersection in Taylor County. The crash occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. TFC Bolyard was transported via helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital where he died at approximately 2:30 a.m. today.

TFC Bolyard enlisted with the West Virginia State Police in October of 1995.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police are conducting the investigation.
