State Police Make Arrests in Connection with Inmate Overdose

HUNTINGTONState Police in Huntington today arrested two subjects involved in the overdose death of an inmate at the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville.

Troopers arrested Brandon Bradford, 25, for two counts of transporting drugs into a regional jail.  The victim’s mother, Vicki Collins, 46, was also arrested for transporting drugs into a regional jail.  Both subjects are currently inmates at the Western Regional Jail.  Brandon Bradford is considered a work release inmate.

On Wednesday, January 19, 2005, Troopers responded to the Western Regional Jail to investigate the death of an inmate, Jason Burdette, 25, of Huntington.  It was determined that Burdette had overdosed on Methadone.

The investigation revealed that Brandon Bradford received an unknown amount of Methadone from a family member, brought the drug into the jail and gave it to Burdette.  Bradford again transported drugs into the jail on another occasion and gave the drugs to a separate inmate, David Carr, 19, who was charged with possession.
