Yahya Abdul-Aleem, a fugitive from justice for murder as featured on America’s Most Wanted,
arrested by the West Virginia State Police
On Sunday, October 26, 2008, Sergeant G. S. Petsko was performing road patrol duties on I-68 near the four milepost. At approximately 1:00 pm the undersigned officer observed a westbound Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed. The Charger was stopped near the three milepost westbound. Trooper C. D. Whetzel shortly thereafter to assist with the investigation.
The officers approached the Charger and observed two occupants. The passenger was identified as Jeremiah Martin. An odor of marijuana was prevalent inside the vehicle. The driver identified himself as "Kalvin Johnson." Mr. Martin also stated that the driver's name was "Kalvin or Kevin Johnson." No record of such a person was found to exist. Eventually the driver corrected himself, stating that his name was "Derrick Williams." Mr. Martin also revised his own recollection, stating that he didn't really know the driver's name, and that it could be "Derrick or William." Both the driver and Mr. Martin were placed under arrest providing false information to a member of the state police.
During the processing stage of the arrests, the undersigned officer could not positively identify the driver. At the submission of the original criminal complaint document, the driver was entered as “John Doe.”
After a FBI fingerprint record search was completed, the driver was finally identified as Yahya Abdul-Aleem. Mr. Abdul-Aleem was wanted by the New York Police Department for his involvement in a murder on August 6, 2006. He was also featured in a story on America’s Most Wanted. Mr. Abdul-Aleem is currently being held for local charges and extradition back to New York City.
