Drug Arrests in Wyoming and McDowell Counties


SOUTH CHARLESTON – On October 24, 2005, the Southern Regional Drug & Violent Crime Task Force initiated a round-up of targeted individuals in Wyoming County. The task force was assisted by members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police members. As a result of the long term investigations of the targeted drug dealers, 35 individuals were arrested. Several hydrocodone pills and six (6) firearms were seized.

On October 25, 2005, the Southern Regional Drug & Violent Crime Task Force initiated another round-up of targeted individuals in McDowell County. The task force was assisted by members of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police members. There were 21 targeted individuals arrested. Again, several hydrocodone pills and eight (8) firearms were seized.

These round-ups are made possible by the cooperation and combined joint efforts of parent agencies of the task force: West Virginia State Police, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, Bluefield City Police Department and Princeton City Police Department. The operations are funded by federal grants such as HIDTA and funding from the Department of Justice.
