State Police Urge Motorists to Exercise

Caution During Winter Storm Season

STATEWIDE - West Virginia State Police Superintendent Colonel Dave Lemmon today urged motorists to exercise caution during this winter storm season.

Several inches of snow blanketed the state's central and southern regions on Thursday evening, causing scores of accidents and slowing traffic on most secondary roads and major highways.  Drivers are cautioned to be particularly mindful of disabled motorists along the state's major highways.  Motorists experiencing automotive problems along the state's Interstate or Appalachian Corridor highway system can get roadside assistance,        24-hours a day, from the West Virginia Courtesy Patrol by calling toll-free 1-888-359-3683, or dialing *SP (*77) on a cell phone.

Motorists in need of emergency medical, fire or law enforcement services should contact local emergency services or dial 911.  The most current information on road conditions throughout the state is available toll-free at 1-(877) WVA-ROAD.
